Questions

What are the main changes of the July 2026 revamp from Fortinet?
The July 2026 revamp of Fortinet training focuses on the renaming and reclassification of certification levels. These changes include:
- Moving from 5 certification levels to 8
- Creation of industry certifications outside of the 8-level structure
- Maintain four training tracks across some levels: Secure Networking, Security Operations, Cloud Security, and SASE
- All certifications will be valid for two years
- New requirements and recertification rules
- Reintroducing on-site practical exams at the NSE 8 level
- Expand the eligible products for earning a certification
How do I know what is required versus recommended for a certification?
Great question! For most of the certifications, there are both required elements as well as recommended elements. We have noted this in each certification area of our Fortinet landing page, as well as in the individual certification descriptions listed here.
The course I have taken/am planning to take no longer has an exam – what does this mean?
With the revamp, some exams were retired to better align with current requirements based on Fortinet systems. In some cases, both an exam and corresponding course have been retired but, in some cases, a corresponding course may still be available. In these cases, an individual is still able to take the course to further their knowledge base on a specific topic, but these courses will longer directly contribute to a certification as there is no exam.
How will my existing certifications convert on July 15, 2026?
On the date of the transition, all active existing certifications will be converted to the new equivalent. For additional information, please view details from Fortinet here.
